A Hint of Magenta
by Rebecca on July 6th, 2015

When you think about painting something for resale, you don't exactly choose magenta. Well, in my defense, I didn't choose magenta, magenta chose me.

What about now? That magenta chippy goodness.

Ok, you definitely can't miss it now. Here's what was uncovered after some sanding. Pure magenta.
Speaking of "choosing" magenta, I didn't even choose this chair! Our old neighbors on Maui moved, and they left this chair, and somehow it ended up in my parents' garage. I don't live on Maui (but I work there frequently), and this wasn't the type of chair we could dismantle and send home with me on the airplane (click here for more info on THAT chair). Alas, my mom said she'd "save" it for me. So, in the midst of teaching 8 dance classes, doing a private lesson, prepping for a Craft Fair and taking care of Ivy, somehow I managed to re-do this chair on one of my 24 hour visits home.

After sanding off most of the chippy paint, I gave it a coat of Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Artissimo. This paint has an interesting coat to start, but after I sanded it some more, and gave it a white wax, it turned out this beautiful cobalt with hints of peachy magenta shining through.

I listed it on Maui craigslist (with my parents' phone number, haha) and it sold last week! Thanks mom and dad!

It definitely had been weather worn in it's original state, which made it appear to be really old, but I have a gut feeling that I've seen a chair like this at Pottery Barn... hmmm...

Thanks for checking it out!
